The French West Coast gave us everything but a smooth start. Poor visibility, wet sleeping bags and long dirt road sections were the peak Basque Country experience.
After escaping the rainy Basque Country, we finally saw the sun again and arrived in Pyrenees National Park. We climbed our first 3,000-meter peak on the trail and destroyed our tent when winter suddenly hit on the first of September.
After my knee forced me to take some rest, we attacked again and summitted the highest mountain of the Pyrenees – Pico Anetto.
The last section was tough – the most remote part, with very few visitors, where the raw beauty of the Pyrenees unfolds. Speaking of folding: after an accident, I dislocated my finger, we bent it back on the trail and kept hiking until we reached civilization again in Andorra.
